Harmonised Learning is a programme of two different Saturday Wood Badge Workshops developed by the Berkshire Scouts team. Leaders can attend WB1 and WB2 to complete the seven modules of the new Scout Wood Badge curriculum after Getting Started.
The two one-day workshops contain all the learning needed to validate a new syllabus Wood Badge (except First Aid) and providing networking opportunities for leaders across the County. Practical exercises and discussion will focus on leading and working with adult volunteers, teaching skills to young people and the basics of residential experiences, growing your section, using Compass and OSM, and bringing the international dimension into your Scouting. There will be time to network with other leaders and raise open questions. Ideal for those who want to complete their Wood Badge and have less than 2 years’ experience as a leader.
Having attended a Wood Badge Workshop you will need to validate each of the modules covered. Full details are given in the course handbook given to participants.
Module 38 – Leading Residential Experiences is a further non-residential workshop that focuses on the eight skill areas assessed in getting a Nights Away Permit/Accreditation. NB this is not a camping skills course. However, recent participants were amazed at how much there was to learn beyond basic camping skills in the planning, organising and delivery of a residential experience so this should be considered as an option for most new accreditations.
During courses our experienced and friendly team of trainers and facilitators will give you the learning required to validate all the modules or assessment areas in a fun, interactive environment and will always listen to your needs and try to adapt the course in real time to suit you and other participants. During the weekend you will meet lots of other like-minded Leaders from all Sections, giving you invaluable networking opportunities. We will supply tea and coffee, and biscuits.
