Kennet District Cub Scouts attended a district Cyclo Cross event on Saturday at Northcroft. Around 100 Cubs from Hungerford, Kintbury and Newbury enjoyed an afternoon of cycling completion which was made possible with the assistance of the local Briars dental practice, Banjo Cycles, West Berkshire Council and Adam Buckland and UK CycloCross. Over a series of timed races, Cubs won points for their packs as well as trying to achieve the fast lap! Between races cubs were also able to explore a number of cycling linked activities including learning how to fix a puncture, correctly inflate their tyres, properly oil their bicycles as well as learn about cycle safety. CPSO Andrew Scott from Thames Valley Police also visited and post coded all the bicycles for the cubs which will aid recovery of any lost or stolen bicycles. At the end of the afternoon, the Cubs had earned their Cycling activity badges and there were reports of cubs having “the best day ever” and “an awesome afternoon”.
